On Monday, Alamos Gold (NYSE:AGI) announced it achieved record production in 2024, reaching 567,000 ounces of gold, or a 7% year-over-year increase. The company announced an ambitious plan to boost production while simultaneously reducing costs.

"With the solid finish to the year, we met both our quarterly and increased annual production guidance," said John A. McCluskey, President and CEO.

He noted that the company also achieved record revenues and free cash flow while strategically investing in high-return growth initiatives.

Alamos sold 141,257 ounces of gold at a realized price of $2,632 per ounce, generating $375 million in revenue, including silver sales.

Using the proceeds, the firm boosted its cash reserves to $325 million from around $225 million at the end of 2023.

Production hit the midpoint of guidance, which the firm revised by 13% higher in September to reflect stronger-than-expected performance. While the all-in-sustaining costs (AISC) for 2024 are projected to be at the higher end of the revised guidance range of $1,300 per ounce, costs in the fourth quarter are expected to be lower than those recorded in the third quarter, reflecting improved efficiencies.

Alamos is actively pursuing cost reduction strategies, aiming to lower its AISC by 6% by 2026 and 10% by 2027. The low-cost Island Gold District asset in Ontario is set to play a key role in this effort, as the firm plans to boost its output to nearly 400,000 ounces annually by 2027—more than doubling from today.

The ongoing Phase 3+ Expansion should play the main role in this growth plan. The expansion, set for the first half of 2026, will increase mining capacity to 11,200 tons per day, with evaluations underway to scale this further to between 15,000 and 20,000 tons per day.

Alamos has also commenced construction on the Lynn Lake project in Manitoba. This project is anticipated to produce 176,000 ounces of gold annually during its first decade of operations, with an AISC of approximately $699 per ounce.

Construction costs are estimated at $480 million, and production is slated to begin in the first half of 2028.

If successful, Alamos Gold will grow its output to 900,000 ounces by 2028, becoming a major low-cost producer with operations concentrated in low-risk jurisdictions.
