As President Donald Trump pledged 100% tariffs on foreign-made films, Alphabet Inc.‘s (NASDAQ:GOOGL) (NASDAQ:GOOG) Google has launched “100 Zeros,” a film and TV production initiative aimed at influencing Hollywood and reconnecting with younger audiences.
What Happened: The multiyear partnership with Range Media Partners seeks to fund and produce an array of scripted and unscripted content promoting Google products and positive tech culture, particularly to Gen Z viewers increasingly abandoning Google Search for platforms like TikTok, reported Business Insider.
“Through our continued partnership with Range, we aim to collaborate with the Hollywood creative community in a thoughtful and productive way,” a Google spokesperson said in a statement.
Unlike YouTube Originals, 100 Zeros aims to sell projects to traditional studios and streamers like Netflix Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX), which has seen its stock drop amid Trump’s tariff threats. The initiative’s early moves included backing Neon’s horror film “Cuckoo” starring “Euphoria” actress Hunter Schafer.
